Gingerbread Syrup
When Starbucks discontinued their Gingerbread Lattes my husband went on a quest to find the best ginger flavored syrup. This was not an easy task. After some trial recipes he found, what I feel is, the best gingerbread syrup.
During the holidays and winter months, this syrup bottle sits next to our espresso machine. You can add this to your coffee or hot latte drinks and, if it isn’t too cold in your neck of the woods, try this on vanilla ice cream for a treat. The recipe is below.
Place the following ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.
1/4 C brown sugar
1/2 C sugar
3/4 C water
3 T molasses
1 teaspoon fresh ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Boil for one minute. Reduce your heat and simmer for approximately five minutes. This will reduce the mixture and condense the syrup. After it cools, place in a glass container. We purchased our container at Target. You can find this jar with the covered spout lid online or at most general retail stores.
We hope you enjoy this recipe. Happy Holidays.
