Easy Homemade Cranberry Sauce
This is an easy dish to make up to five days ahead and set out when ready to serve your turkey dinner!
1 C fresh cranberries, washed (can also use frozen cranberries)
1 C orange juice
1/2 C sugar
Optional spices: Cardamom, Cinnamon, Anise, Grated ginger, zest of orange or lemon
Combine orange juice and sugar in a medium sauce pan on the stove over medium low heat until sugar is dissolved. Add cranberries and cook approximately ten minutes while increasing the heat to medium. The fresh cranberries will burst open or “pop” during this time. Remove from heat and add additional spices as desired.
Once you see how easy this is to make - and how great it tastes - you will never go back to the canned stuff.
This sauce can also be used as a spread for your leftover turkey sandwiches, chicken wraps, topped on biscuits for breakfast and as an ingredient in cranberry cream cheese dip. (Recipe here on my blog)
This can be stored in the refrigerator for up to five days.
