Life is simpler when you have systems in place

What are systems? A system is defined as a collection of components which are used for accomplishing something. Systems can be many different things. It is a method where something gets completed.

There are many types of systems. An ecosystem is an area organisms and environment work and live together (alligators and swamps). A computer is technically referred to as an operating system. Can you count how many systems are in place in your home? Several! You have a system for getting ready in the morning. You have a system for getting kids out the door and to school. You have a system for doing laundry. If you spend the day paying attention to what you do, how you make it to the end of the day - you will realize that there are many systems that you do to finish tasks throughout the day.

Now, it is important to know that these systems can be organized or they can be disorganized.

Household tasks are never ending. For example, you go to the store for groceries, bring them home, put them away, make dinners and then you are out of food again. The same with laundry. It feels so good to have all of the laundry completed, but before you know it, someone is stressed out because there is nothing to wear tomorrow.

In the world of business, there's a lot of talk about systems. What about in our personal life? If we have systems in the home, we can save quite a bit of time and money. But what is a system, exactly? Well, it's a set of processes that helps you operate more efficiently and effectively. Systems are everywhere: the way you organizes your emails and files, how frequently you run errands, which tasks are completed by others in the home. A good system allows for flexibility within your walls—and it saves everyone time and energy over time by eliminating unnecessary decision-making (and therefore wasted brain power).

There are some things we have to do every day,

which makes a great place to start building your system.

Home Systems

Here are some of the things I do everyday:

  • Wake up, drink water, and move my body

  • Run errands or basic admin work

  • Go grocery shopping

  • Plan dinner

  • Pay bills

  • Follow up on medical claims

create success by setting proper systems

If you want to create success, set up proper systems.

I know that sounds vague and even kind of stupid, but think about it: if you have a good system in place, then it's easier to get things done. And the more things you get done, the more successful you'll be.

For example, let's say your goal is to write an article every day (like this one!) but right now all of your articles are sitting around in a pile somewhere on your desk because they're not organized properly or completed yet. If we could help organize those articles into their respective folders and subfolders before they were written instead of after they were written... well then we'd have an entirely different scenario on our hands!

So what does this mean? It means that instead of trying to do everything at once (which feels like such a daunting task!), focus on the most important thing(s) for today/right now/this week/etc.. Then set up systems so those tasks become less daunting over time!

Systems can help you receive more time in your day

Habits are things that you do without thinking, and they’re usually things that you do regularly. You might have a habit of brushing your teeth or making coffee in the morning, but some habits are less positive: maybe you have a tendency to overthink everything or get distracted by social media.

Systems can help improve your daily habits so that they become easier to follow. For example, if you want to start meditating every day at 6 am (and why wouldn’t you?), then having a system in place will make it much more likely for this goal to become reality.

Set up a system or routine that ensures that you get your tasks done each day, makes your life easier and helps you feel calm and at peace.

  • Create success by setting proper systems. It's not just about working hard; it's about working smart as well!

  • You can get more done in less time. And time is money, am I right?

  • You can relax and enjoy life more.

  • You can feel more confident about yourself.

  • You can feel less stressed, especially when you have a system for organizing your workload and delegating tasks to others when appropriate.

  • You can feel more in control of your life, which is always a good thing!

Home organization isn’t always about the way we fold our clothes and put them away, it is about the process of getting the clothing laundered correctly, efficiently and painlessly.
