Stay on Vacation All Year Long

This time of year can be a bit stressful with full time schedules returning as a reality. Even if you don’t have children returning to school, the summer has come to an end. This becomes prevalent when you realize that the traffic times have increased with all of the school busses on the road. It is time to get back to serious work and move forward (however we can do that in today’s environment). If you haven’t yet, you may be interested in reading my previous blog titled Is August your favorite month? It discusses three ideas to implement to reduce stress and mentally stay in your happy place.

I could sit here and say, “It’s all about perspective” - and it is, somewhat. I am sure you don’t want to hear that. These ideas are things that you can do in your home to achieve this state of mind. In this blog, I am going to list items to help you start brainstorming.

Plan next summer vacation. Getting everybody involved in a family trip creates interaction and great conversation. Plan your next family vacation by having members of the family present and vote on where to visit. Have them bring ideas to the table on what to do and reasons for going to that location.

Plan smaller weekend excursions. The possibilities are endless:

  • Labor day getaway

  • Fall Festival weekend

  • Antique Shopping Trip

  • Holiday Decor and Shopping

  • Bed and Breakfast quiet time

  • Hotel with a pool or spa

  • Indoor waterpark (great cold weather idea)

  • Near a port? Take a three day cruise

Chose a different environment

  • Mountains

  • Lake or Beach

  • Vegas or Atlantic City

  • Travel to a special place you absolutely love

Schedule yourself some ME time.

Set up a tent in the backyard - camp under the stars

Take a nature walk

Treat yourself to fresh cut flowers

Lie in a hammock and listen to the birds

Sit in a coffee shop and read a good book

Diffuse your favorite essential oil

Soak in a bubble bath

Brew a GREAT cup of tea

Spend some time in the garden

Be crafty - tour a craft/fabric store for ideas

Declutter a small space

Adult coloring books!

Learn a new skill (why wait until later?)

Write in a journal

Cuddle with pets

Take a nap

Use the nice wine glasses

Reorganize an area in your home just for you. Resetting and refreshing your environment can be beneficial and productive. Paint if you are able, declutter and set a relaxed environment. This may be a place to read, write, create, craft or think.

This time of year may also be the time to reset a new habit. Implement a wellness habit in your day or make a point to spend more time outdoors. Walk the dog occasionally, start purchasing produce at a local market, try a new healthy recipe and set dinner on the back porch.

With a busy time approaching, do not forget to schedule in other activities like the ones I mentioned here. This should help with keeping stress levels down and having a happy home.

These and other ideas are discussed here in my YouTube Video.
